What the City Intimation Slip Is
The SSC CGL city intimation slip is a short notice on ssc.gov.in that tells you which city you will sit Tier 1 in and on which date โ nothing more. It exists so that candidates allotted a city away from home can book travel and accommodation before the admit card comes out. It is not the admit card, it does not carry your centre address or reporting time, and it does not admit you to the exam hall. SSC releases it roughly nine days before the exam window opens; with SSC CGL Tier 1 2026 running from 30 September to 30 October 2026, the slip is expected around 21โ22 September. SSC has not published a fixed date for it, so treat that as the pattern from previous cycles rather than an announcement.
Slip vs Admit Card โ the Difference That Trips People Up
Every cycle, candidates see the city slip, assume they have their admit card, and stop checking. They are two different documents released about a week apart.
| City intimation slip | Admit card | |
|---|---|---|
| Expected release | ~21โ22 September 2026 (pattern-based) | ~27 September 2026, region-wise |
| Exam city | Yes | Yes |
| Exam date | Yes | Yes |
| Centre name and address | No | Yes |
| Shift and reporting time | No | Yes |
| Valid for entry to the hall | No | Yes |
How to Download It
The slip sits behind the candidate login, not on the public notice board, so you need your registration credentials:
- 1Go to ssc.gov.in and open the candidate login.
- 2Sign in with your Registration Number and password.
- 3Select Combined Graduate Level Examination 2026 (Tier 1).
- 4Open the exam city intimation link.
- 5Save the PDF and screenshot the city and date โ the link is taken down once admit cards are out.
Do These Three Things the Hour You Get It
The slip is useful for about a week, and only if you act on it immediately.
- 1Book travel if the city is not yours. Roughly 29 lakh applications were received this cycle across a month of exam days, so trains out of and into the bigger centres fill quickly once slips are released.
- 2Work out your exam date in the window. Tier 1 runs daily from 30 September to 30 October, so two candidates with the same preparation can have four weeks between their papers. Your date decides your revision plan, and you now know it.
- 3Do not wait for the admit card to start planning the journey. The admit card comes roughly three days before your paper, which is too late to arrange travel to another city.
If Your City Is Not What You Asked For
SSC allots centres against the preferences you filled in the application, but demand decides the outcome โ a first-preference city that is oversubscribed gets reallocated. There is no correction window and no request mechanism for the allotted city once slips are out. What you can do is check the slip against your own application details: if your name, registration number or the exam itself is wrong, raise it with your regional SSC office straight away using the contact details on the regional website, because that is a data error rather than an allotment decision.
Use the Waiting Week Properly
Between the city slip and your exam date you have somewhere between a week and five weeks, and it is the last stretch of practice that will move your score. Sit full-length timed papers at the shift time you are allotted rather than whenever suits you โ the 9:00 am shift and the 5:15 pm shift are very different exams for the same brain. You can take a free SSC CGL mock test here, built from over 13,000 exam-pattern questions with worked solutions, and use the last-month strategy to structure what is left.
Where the Official Information Is
Everything above happens on ssc.gov.in and the regional SSC websites linked from it. SSC published the Tier 1 schedule notice on 12 September 2026; release dates for the city slip and admit card are not announced in advance, which is why they are given here as expectations from previous cycles rather than as fixed dates. Check the site directly instead of relying on forwarded release-date messages.
